Employers with an approved internship may receive state matching funds by hiring students who are eligible to receive state financial aid for a paid internship.
A qualified internship position must meet a specific set of criteria, including:
- Internship must provide experiential learning

- Internship must be at least 8 weeks long
- Intern must work 12 to 20 hours a week during the academic year (August 16 through April 26) or 12 to 40 hours during the summer (April 27 - August 15)
- Intern activities may not be political or sectarian in nature
- No more than 25% of intern's work can be administrative in nature
- No more than 50% of your workforce may be interns
- Federal Work-Study funds or other grant funds may not be received for the internship position.

Through the Labs for Industry Futures 和 Transformation (LIFT) grant, the LIFT Internship Program connects students from regional 大专院校 to internships at local companies focused on advanced industries such as technology, 制造业, 数据科学与分析, supply chain or logistics management, 研究和发展. City of South Bend High Skill Immigration Fund (HSIF)
In support of international talent sourcing 和 the need to fill critical gaps in high-dem和 jobs, the City of South Bend created the HSIF 和 is now accepting applications from employers who have filed an H1B visa application in 2023. The HSIF offers partial reimbursements for H-1B petitions 和 offers trainings for employers on how to attract 和 retain international talent. Employers can submit applications for multiple H-1Bs.
